Adding Multiple Blocks of Text to a Document

In many cases the text you want to listen to on a web page is not in a single, contiguous block. Instead it may be interspersed with superfluous text such as hyperlinks, captions, advertisements, etc. For example, if you try to select the text from the following page in a single block -

Trying to select text from a page in a single block

you will end up with -

Superfluous text

You don't want to capture this superfluous text and therefore you must select each block of text individually and add it to your current document.

This can be done by selecting a block of text on a web page and then using the Add Text command command, which is available from the Text2Go toolbar or from the right mouse button context menu. This will append the selected text to the current document, or start a new document if one doesn't exist. A success sound will be played once the command completes successfully. Text2Go ensures you don't add the same block of text more than once and will play a warning sound if you attempt to do so.

For example, using the same web page, you would first select the heading and then issue an Add Text command.

First select the heading

You would then select the byline and date, and issue an Add Text command.

Then select the by line and date

Finally you can select the body of the article and issue another Add Text command.

Finally select the body of the article

The result this time is just the text you wish listen to.

Only the text you wish to listen to has been captured

Clear Last and Clear All commandsIf you add a block of text to your document by mistake, you can always remove the block by using the Clear Last command. To completely clear the entire document, you can use the Clear All command.

The Add Text command is also useful when an article is split over multiple pages. In this case you would add the text from the first page using one or more Add Text commands and then navigate to the next page and add the text from that page. This can be repeated for each additional page of the article.

Once you've selected the last block of text you wish to add to your document, you can use the Text2Go commandcommand. This command will add any selected text on the web page to your document and then proceed to convert it to speech and transfer it to iTunes. Note that if there is no text selected on a web page, the Text2Go command will simple convert your current document to speech and transfer it to iTunes.
