Listening to Text from Other Sources, such as an eBook
There are many sources of information that aren't presented as web pages. These include Microsoft Word documents, Adobe Acrobat PDF files and plain old text files. In order to listen to text from these sources on your iPod you have to copy the text to the clipboard and then paste it into Text2Go. This tutorial will demonstrate this approach by capturing and converting the text from an ebook (electronic book).
The best source of free ebooks is Project Gutenburg's online book catalog with over 20,000 free books.
In preparation for this tutorial, I've downloaded Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice and opened it Notepad.
When converting an ebook to speech I've found it's a good idea to convert it chapter by chapter. This means you will end up with one track per chapter. The other thing that also worth doing is to create a Text2Go play list within iTunes so that you can keep all the chapters together.
To create a Text2Go playlist, open iTunes, select the Text2Go folder in the Source view and then select New Playlist from the File menu.

Once you've created a Text2Go playlist for your ebook, open the ebook in NotePad.
Select the first chapter of text and copy it to the clipboard using the Edit->Copy menu command or Ctrl C keyboard shortcut.

Once the text is in the clipboard, right click on the Text2Go icon in the system tray and select the Add From Clipboard command.

If you need to capture multiple blocks of text from the clipboard, you can turn on the Clipboard Monitor. This will automatically add any text that is copied to the clipboard to the current document. This is much easier than having to do an Add From Clipboard every time.

The next thing you'll want to do is to select the Text2Go play list to place each track in. This can be done from the play list menu.

Then right click once again and select the Text2Go command to convert your current document to speech and transfer it to iTunes.

Click here to listen to a sample of chapter 1.
Finally, you will need to repeat the above steps for the remaining chapters.
